This portrait does not depict Charles François de Cisternay du Fay (Q345455); it is actually a portrait of his father, Charles JÉRÔME de Cisternay du Fay (Q106441355).

See File:Image drevet pierre imbert charles jerome de cisternay du fay capitaine aux gardes francoises sic iff10 g. 451267.jpg

and File:Pierre Imbert Drevet - Hyacinthe Rigaud - Casteney du Fay.jpg

Both files above consist of the same engraved portrait of Charles Jérôme. The present file, here identified as a portrait of his son, Charles François, is clearly just a flipped and slightly altered version of the portrait of Charles Jérôme.

I am proposing this file for deletion, considering that: 1) it is an incorrect identification of the subject, 2) it is of very low resolution, and 3) it is currently used in over 20 articles across multiple Wikipedia projects, which therefore would make it unnecessarily difficult to manually remove from said articles Excommunicato (talk) 18:42, 10 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: No reason for deletion of this image. According to the Deletion policy a supposedly incorrect, original researched or not-neutral image is not a reason for deletion. This aspect should be addressed on the projects. The image is currently in use on the projects, so it has to be maintained. @Excommunicato: , if you are certain this image is wrong (- I agree it looks like the father - you could rename it while keeping a redirect. On the redirect you could upload a dummy image or a single pixel. This might work I hope. --Ellywa (talk) 21:26, 26 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
