Commons:Deletion requests/File:Claude Goudimel 1562.jpg
Fortitou (talk) 10:08, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Fortitou: Using English would be nice, so everybody can follow. It would be nice if you could provide more information, maybe a link to a verified picture of Goudimel. In the print there is no indication that this is indeed Adrian Le Roy. And if it is, why delete it instead of simply moving it back? --Rettinghaus (talk) 10:19, 3 August 2021 (UTC)
This portrait named "Claude Goudimel 1562.jpg" is actually a portrait of the composer Adrian Le Roy. We know it comes from a music print by Le Roy in 1567 where he uses and mentions Goudimel melodies (see "Les Pseaumes de David, composez en musique à quatre parties, par Cl. Goudimel. In the copy of the National Library in France, the portrait has been erroneously ascribed to Goudimel by a XIXth century hand but we know now that it shows Le Roy. See JM Noailly dissertation, Tours, 1988. There is a portrait of Goudimel in New York PL, Drexel collection, which is already available in Wikimedia commons (Claude Goudimel.jpg). Obviously not the same guy... Actually, everything was correct in WP + WD + WMC, since you and Buidhe changed this a few days ago...
